NECROMANCER

Necromancer was the second metal band from Rijnsburg (Leiden area, the Netherlands), and the direct predecessor of the thrash metal band Lunacy.

The first incarnation of what would become Necromancer was founded late 1985 as Centaur by Greg (guitar) and Ed (drums). In early 1986 Bas became their singer. Centaur didn't rehearse very often, and in June 1986 Greg, Ed and Bas (now on bass guitar) reformed as Necromancer. Around the same time vocalist Jaco (later a.o. guitar player for Witness) and guitarist Miranda (later a.o. Toner Low bass player and Judgement guitarist) joined, However, this line-up disbanded soon. Lead guitarist Rob (later guitar player for Carthago) was added, but this didn't work out either. In December 1986 Danny got asked to join Necromancer.

Danny made his rehearsal room debut with Necromancer on January 9, 1987. Because Ed was not available that day, this session took place with Judgement drummer Jack (later a.o. Toner Low drummer). Played were Black Magic by Slayer as well as the Necromancer songs Necrophile Desire, Legions Of War, Premature Burial and ROF. The vocals were shared by Greg and Bas. For the next rehearsals Ed was on the drum stool again. Other songs played by Necromancer were self penned Blindness, and Hell's On Its Knees and Merciless Death from Dark Angel. The bandname changed to Lunacy by late March 1987. No Necromancer gigs were done.
