Lunacy was the continuation of Necromancer, with which band Danny played since January 1987, and the direct predecessor of the thrash metal band Eternal Nightmare.
Late March 1987 Necromancer got renamed as Lunacy. The line-up of Greg (guitar), Danny (guitar), Bas (bass guitar) and Ed (drums) remained the same. Initially Greg and Bas kept on sharing the vocal duties, but in June singer Nico joined. He first was in the speed/thrash metal Chimaera in which Danny played as well, and which had ended in March 1987. July 17, 1987, Lunacy recorded a rehearsal promotape with self written songs and covers from Slayer, Dark Angel, Testament and Exodus. August some Lunacy T-shirts got hand printed by Jack (later a.o. Toner Low drummer, Only Entertainment guitarist and Eternal Nightmare bassist).
Lunacy made its live debut on September 25, 1987, at Tent in Wassenaar, supporting the speed/thrash metal band Silenxce (formerly known as Inferno), who were also based in the Leiden area. In the ensuing six months Lunacy did some more gigs with bands such as Pestilence, Cyclone (from Belgium), Mandator (formerly known as Mysto Dysto), Massattack, Jewel and Hellion (US). Because singer Nico was not available for the last-minute support show for Jewel and Hellion on March 19, 1988, Greg and Bas handled the vocals. So technically this was a belated Necromancer gig.
March 26 Lunacy did their first headline gig, supported by thrash metal band Witness (for whom Danny played bass guitar from October until December 1987). After this gig bassplayer Bas left the band and got replaced by Jack (later a.o. Toner Low drummer). With him Lunacy did a gig on June 11, 1988, again at Tent in Wassenaar. Summer and autumn the band wrote new songs and began planning studio recordings. Late November the bandname changed to Eternal Nightmare, 'cause there already existed a Dutch band called Lunacy. The Lunacy Danny played in never released a studio demo.
