The Titfaces were a self proclaimed titcore band featuring members of Odyssey (formerly known as Witness) and Lunacy guitarist Danny.
The Titfaces formed August 16, 1988, around 20:37 hrs at bar De Musketier in Katwijk as a one-time project by drummer Gerrit (Odyssey guitarist), singer Richard (Odyssey drummer), Marco (Odyssey bassist) and Danny (Lunacy guitarist). Gerrit and Danny wrote some songs and at the first rehearsal on August 20 the unreleased Face 'Yer Tits tape got recorded. Wehrmacht side project Spazztic Blurr was a huge inspiration, but The Titfaces rarely reached this band's level of musicianship. Autumn-winter a few rehearsals were done on weekend nights when the bars of Katwijk had closed and the band members had nowhere left to go.
Up from March 1989 The Titfaces started writing and rehearsing more songs. May 27 those were recorded live at the rehearsal room using the mixing board and 2-track tape deck of Streamer. Streamer guitarist Willem (who had played with Danny in Red Blaze and Chimaera) and their bassplayer Kees did the engineering. In June 1989 the demo Titface Attack got released, followed by two local gigs. After writing some more songs on November 25, 1989, The Titfaces recorded the demo The Greatest Tits, using the first tape studio equipment and engineers. It came out in early December, with some local gigs around its release.
During 1990 the band members focused on their main bands Mortmain (formerly known as Odyssey) and Eternal Nightmare (formerly known as Lunacy), but on September 28, 1991, The Titfaces did a gig at venue 't Breehuys in Leiden. By this time they had added Minor Threat's Filler to the setlist. Early 1992 the tape The Legendary Days Of The Titface Race was released, consisting of their 1989 demos and some 1989 live tracks. After a gig on Februart 29, 1992, drummer Gerrit left to concentrate on doom/death metal band Creepmime for which he played drums as well. Pyathrosis drummer Hans took over, but left in August 1992.
Singer Richard replaced Hans and new singer Ronald (later in Kru$h) was recruited. December 29, 1992, the demo Tit Is 'M was recorded at a rehearsal space in Noordwijk with 4-track studio equipment. It came out late January 1993. The Titfaces released a T-shirt and did a handful of local gigs throughout the year and some in 1994 before recording their demo tape Life's Fun Around The Hills on November 5 and 6, 1994, at 16-track studio Next To Jaap in Voorhout. Following the late November release two gigs were done. July 1994 the first issue of The Titpages fanclub magazine came out, with the second one appearing in November.
In 1995 the band did a few local gigs and released the third and fourth issue of The Titpages magazine in June and October. After the first T-shirt sold out, autumn 1995 The Titfaces presented their second T-shirt. January 27, 1996, the band played a gig in Eislingen in the south of Germany, and returned to nearby Deggingen for a festival show on June 22, 1996. Both times they supported Only Entertainment, which consisted amongst others of The Titfaces' drummer Richard and guitarist Danny. Some gigs in Holland were done as well. The fifth and final sixth issue of The Titpages came out in January and June 1996.
July 26, 27 and 28, 1996, The Titfaces recorded some new and old songs at studio Next To Jaap in Voorhout. It took until December 2 and 3, 1996, to mix the July recordings. The number of gigs reduced, and after June 1997 no new songs were written. May 1998 Danny released a demo tape with Hammond versions of classic Titfaces songs under the name The Easy Tune Faces, entitled Hits To Ruin Your Party (borrowed Only Entertainment motto). Throughout 1998 The Titfaces did some local shows. April 23, 1999, they played their final gig at Qbus in Leiden, all the while releasing some of the 1996 recordings on a split 7" with Only Entertainment.
